  1. I think that I enjoyed Denny the most in the book because he is the guy who Howie trusts most and he is the main character's best friend in the book. He is the one who Howie trusts and I think it is cool how they have to tell each other's secrets, I probably wouldn’t have told anyone those things. One thing that I didn’t like about the book is that Avi never tells if Lomister is a spy or not. I am guessing that he is inferring that we would think that he isn’t a spy, but it is still possible. That was the question that I was waiting for an answer. And it made me mad that he didn’t even answer the question at all throughout the book.

    1. I never thought of putting Denny in the beginning of the blog for the first question because Howie and Denny are best friends and they do trust each other and they do tell each other's secrets to each other. Excellent job, James!

    3. I agree it stinks that it never told if Lomister was a spy or not. Great work!

  2. What I most enjoyed about the book is that Howie trying to help Miss Gossim so she could not get fired and so she could stay because she is the best teacher that Howie has ever had.
There was something that I hated about the book and it was that the book didn’t tell me that Dr. Lomister was a spy or even if he was a spy. But I loved reading the book because it had a lot of details that were explaining what was happening in the book.
I think that Miss Gossim was really happy to stay until the end of the year because of Howie, Denny, and a few other classmates helping MIss Gossim stay and I wonder why Howie just keeps wondering about Miss Gossim so much although the war ended, and Miss Gossim left at the end of the year.
What I wish that would’ve happened that didn’t happen would be Miss Gossim staying there for the years that Howie, Denny, and their classmates would be staying at the school and that Smitty came back to care for their baby while Miss Gossim still had her job and that Howie wouldn’t of moved because the war was over, but because so that he would still live in Brooklyn instead of moving to Long Island to live there and that Howie’s Pop could have the job at the post office in Brooklyn if they would stay there. Howie and Denny could play and still be best friends if Howie and his family hadn’t of moved to Long Island, but stayed in Brooklyn.

  3. The book Don't You Know There's A War On? was great it had great interesting characters like Teo, Howie, Denny, Mrs. Gossim,Dr Lominster, and Mrs. Wolch. These characters had great interesting personalities and all different personalities like Ms. Gossim is a nice person who lets little thing slip, and Dr. Lomister is a strikt get it done person. Also the book had probably the most questions that I asked, and answered in my whole life it was a book that made me think every chapter. It even had a few cliffhangers. But one thing I absolutely hated about this book is It didn't tell us if Dr. Lominster is a spy, and that is one of the cliffhangers. Finally the time period made it all happen. If there was no black out or If they didn't think that Lomister was a Nazi spy the whole book would not be here.

  4. I thought the book was really interesting and had a great ending. Because it was really nice how he tried to help Mrs. Gossim but sad when Denny’s dad was dead. :( I really do not know why she did not want Howie to help her not get fired that is a big question for me. I wish Howie would have not moved because then he could see mrs. Gossim and Denny I didn’t like that they didn’t add more about Mrs.Gossim. Overall the book was great. I think they should make a sequel or a prequel.

  5. The book was very interesting. Because Howie goes through a lot of adventure and it is action packed.I think I enjoyed Howie the most because he is the main character,he acts like a leader, and he will never give up. I also like Howie because he has a great amount of generosity. I mostly enjoyed the adventure and the facts about what was going on in the war. I also enjoyed that Howie would never give up and keep the story going for 51 chapters. I wish that the book would’ve told us that Dr.Lomister was a spy or if he wasn’t a Nazi spy. I think Avi needed to add a little more detail and make the book make a little more sense. The last thing I wish there would be was Howie actually meeting Smitty in person.
